The plan for the Maison de l’Ecriture emphasizes lightness and integration into the countryside to take into account its exceptional nature, with broad vistas over the horizon, Lake Geneva and the Alps. The architect expresses below the concepts behind his project and the use of space :
« If the town is a house, then the Maison de l’Ecriture may be thought of and projected as a small city. Around a series of buildings, the holiday camp and the Chapel, which have been there for many years and will be consolidated to resist the passage of time, we have placed light cabins as if perched in trees. »
If we then consider that the frame, what is called the stave in music, here takes the form of a large openwork pergola, positioned above everything else. High up, in the sky, the plan of the town is traced and woven in two directions.
