Construction

Following over five years of conceptualization, reflection and discussions, primarily with the architects V. Mangeat and P. Wahlen, work on the Maison de l’Ecriture began in August 2009.

For the construction of this complex project, the Fondation Jan Michalski pour l’Ecriture et la Littérature turned to the enterprise Losinger, which took on the responsibility.

The work started with the demolition of the existing buildings, the Bois Désert holiday camp, unoccupied for many years, but nevertheless full of memories for the inhabitants of Montricher and those who stayed there, and the adjoining Chapel, which will be replaced by an assembly space at the heart of the Maison de l’Ecriture.

The work will continue, without interruption, insofar as the meteorological conditions allow, until the end of 2012, when the foundation hopes to install its offices and welcome the first residents.
